Alberto Granado, a doctor and biochemist, co-founded the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Santiago. He retired in 1994 and lives in Cuba. Granado was on location at director Walter Salles' side throughout The Motorcycle Diaries' shoot as an adviser, bringing the true flavor of South America in the fifties to the project.
