Catherine Martin
Catherine Martin has over 15 years of production design and costume design experience in theatre, opera, and film including a stage version of Strictly Ballroom (1988) and La Boheme (1990), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1994), and Lake Lost (1988) for The Australian Opera. The film version of Strictly Ballroom (1992) earned her AFI Awards and BAFTAs for production design and costumes (with Angus Strathie). Martin's second feature film, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996), garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Art Direction, as well as a BAFTA. Most recently, Martin won Academy Awards for Art Direction and Costumes (with Strathie) for Moulin Rouge (2001).
